My winning streak in Connections – this is my sixth in a row after many losses in the last few weeks. Maybe the game has gotten easier; maybe I’ve gotten better; maybe it’s just luck!
Either way, today’s Connections didn’t strike me as too much of a hassle. The blue JURASSIC PARK group stood out immediately, even 30 years after the original film’s release. The yellow (LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY) and the green (BITS OF WISDOM) were also pretty straightforward when I thought about it. I wouldn’t have picked the purple one if it weren’t for the implicit three, but I don’t know what GRIMACE is referring to, so I never would have picked that. (Apparently it’s a McDonald’s thing – but I’ve never eaten there, so I don’t know…)

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. It requires you to find groups of four items that have something in common, with each group having a different level of difficulty: green is uncomplicated, yellow is a little harder, blue is often quite tough, and purple is usually very tough.
The positive is that you technically don’t have to solve the last one, since you’ll be able to answer it by elimination. What’s more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a bit of breathing room.
It’s a bit more complicated than something like Wordle, though, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to surprise you with tricks. For example, watch out for homophones and other wordplay that can hide answers.
You can play it for free via NYT Games Page on your desktop computer or mobile device.
