Who is Springtrap from FNAF?
Springtrap from FNAF is one of the most memorable animatronics in the entire series. In terms of appearance, Springtrap’s costume is torn and tattered, looking like it’s been through the shredder more times than it’s been washed. Unlike most animatronics and costumes in the series, you can see the wiring and mechanics underneath through Springtrap’s fur, making this nocturnal creature even more terrifying.
To properly explain who exactly Springtrap is, we need to figure out who is inside Springtrap. Be warned, these are some of the biggest spoilers in the game, so only read on if you don’t want to be spoiled or already know the substantial reveal.
Who is inside Springtrap from FNAF?
While many FNAF animatronics have a soul that holds them back, Springtrap has the real body of William Afton from FNAF inside him. Of course, he shouldn’t be there. During the incident at the abandoned FNAF location, Afton dons a Spring Bonnie costume to hide from the animatronics hunting him, but a leak in the ceiling causes the costume to stop working and he integrates with Afton’s body, becoming Springtrap.
From that moment on, Afton and Springtrap are inseparable. However, the killing doesn’t begin immediately, as William Afton lies in a pool of his own blood for almost thirty years before someone finds him. After continuing his mission to kill as many children as possible, Afton’s son Michael reluctantly joins forces with William’s original partner, Henry Emily, to take down Springtrap and the man inside once and for all.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite work out. Despite his brain melting away in the intense heat, Afton survives, somehow digitized into Glitchtrap’s form, but unfortunately this means the end of the Springtrap suit. We’re saying that unfortunately, we’re pretty sure the kids on the block don’t care at all.
FNAF Springtrap’s Personality
Like his host William Afton, Springtrap is a menacing animatronic with a penchant for killing. However, unlike the other animatronics, who seem to want to kill adults as revenge against Afton, Springtrap almost exclusively tries to kill children in an attempt to understand Remnant and gain immortality.

Before he absorbed Afton’s body, Springtrap was Spring Bonnie. Spring Bonnie was much nicer, willing to play with children and entertain them, just like the rest of the gang. Unfortunately, Afton’s influence makes Springtrap anything but the ideal guest at a children’s birthday party.
Springtrap’s appearances in FNAF
Even though Springtrap doesn’t appear in the initial games in the series, he later becomes a solid main antagonist character (or at least a up-to-date body for the main antagonist).

Is Springtrap in the FNAF movie?
Without giving too much away, Springtrap is a substantial part of the FNAF movie. We also expect the Abomination to appear in future movies as a major antagonist, with the ending of the FNAF movie putting the character in the spotlight. We’re not sure if the movie’s Springtrap will share the same fate as the game’s, as there are some differences in the first movie itself, but it wouldn’t be surprising if we saw some of the same scenes from the game on the substantial screen.
