This Halloween, Chipotle I want spice something up and it doesn’t just feed its customers; it also wants to clothe them.
The burrito maker has teamed up with Spirit Halloween, the largest Halloween retailer in North America, to launch its first costume collection, it said in a statement Wednesday. The gimmick draws inspiration from viral costume memes that both brands have used in recent years.
Starting September 6, customers can purchase the unitard, which pays homage to some of Chipotle’s iconic (and not-so-iconic) items, including: a napkin, fork, water cup, burrito, and to-go bag. Each unitard is priced at $40 and will be available in sizes petite adult to XL.
The unitards, which are full-body costumes, will be available for purchase on the Spirit Halloween website and at select locations across the U.S., including Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City and Egg Harbor Township, N.J. Customers in Canada can purchase the costume online while supplies last.
Through cooperation, companies are trying to monetize slightly archaic weird costume memes inspired by Spirit Halloween BagsTwo years ago, Chipotle jumped into this market with the fictional “chipotle fork” and “Chipotle Napkin Jumpsuitwhich collectively generated more than 700,000 online interactions, the company said.
But that’s not all – Chipotle says it has another “terribly awesome deal” coming to customers next month, with details still being kept under wraps. The company once gave away free food to customers who dressed up in aluminum foil — like a burrito — on October 31, but the company has since I watered down this promotion at a partial discount.
Let’s take a look at the five swimsuits Chipotle is offering for Halloween this year:
