Simona is one of many legendary characters in Sword of Convallaria, and as a result, he has an impressive kit that any fan of The Union faction will definitely want to get their hands on. That said, as a powerful ice knight who dishes out magical attacks, he is a solid addition to any team in need of more magic.
If you were lucky enough to get your hands on this unit, you need to know how to make the most of its abilities, namely to build it to be able to deal damage and weaken as many enemies as possible to assist your team. To assist you with that, here is our Simon’s Sword of Convallaria – Team Build and Squads.
Best Sword Convallaria Simona Build
Simona is a magic-wielding Watcher in Sword of Convallaria and a member of The Union faction. If you choose the best skills for her, you will get an ice knight who can hinder enemy mobility and leisurely them down significantly. Here are the skills we recommend when leveling up:
- Rank 1 – Ice Blast: Deals 75% AoE DMG to the first enemy in each line in a 2×3 area, reducing the target’s speed by 50 and reducing their movement by one tile for two turns. Also knocks the target back two tiles.
- Rank 3 – Ice Attack: After using this ability, the character can continue using any remaining movement. Simona chooses one tile in a cross-shaped range and charges to the location, attacking all enemies along the line. Deals 100% Physical Shield damage as ice, then Simona gains the Warrior of Frost buff for two turns, reducing damage taken by 30% and increasing movement by one while on frost tiles.
- Rank 5 – Ice Shards: When Simona’s Ice Armor is destroyed, she deals 50% magic damage to all enemies within two cells and reduces the target’s movement ability by three for one turn.
- Rank 7 – Union Battle Flag: Leader’s Aura. For all Union allies in battle, increases ATK by 10% and DEF by 20%. It’s worth abandoning this Flash Freeze if an ally of the faction already has Knight’s Spirit: Attack a single target, Dealing 80% damage and reducing the target’s Movement by three squares for two turns. If the target already had the Movement debuff, it is instead given the Frozen debuff for two turns.
- Rank 9 – Ice Sword: Single target attack. Simona deals 110% damage. If she attacks enemies with the Movement debuff or standing on Frosty tiles, her damage is increased by 30%.
- Rank 11 – Winter’s Doomsday: Simona chooses one tile in a cross-shaped area around herself and deals 70% Ice damage to all enemies in a 5×3 area towards the target. She then summons a Wall of Ice in the three middle tiles. If the tile is occupied, it deals the target Frozen debuff for one turn.
At level 1, I recommend taking Icy Blast. It gives Simona a powerful AoE attack right from the start, and not only deals damage, but also weakens their speed and movement. The alternative, Ice Cone, is still pretty good, but doesn’t weaken or knock back targets like Icy Blast.
At level 3, you have a tough choice between Ice-made Armor and Ice Assault. The former is a support ability that allows Simona to gain a shield and heal allies, but the effects of Ice Assault are arguably much better overall, allowing her to damage multiple enemies at once and temporarily gain the Warrior of Frost buff.
We continue down a more offensive path by taking the Iceshards ability at level 5, which allows Simona to deal 50% magic damage to all nearby targets and greatly restrict their movement for one turn after her Ice Armor is destroyed.
It’s a situational ability that you’ll only be able to exploit once per fight, but the ability to damage enemies while also restricting their movement can be crucial. More so than the lackluster early game alternative, Protection of Ice, which reduces incoming damage while an enemy is affected by the Movement debuff. That said, if you can afford to invest in this ability once Simona is fully leveled up, it’s an incredibly useful ability to exploit with Iceshards, and Simona is definitely a champion worth investing Castalia into.
Assuming you plan on running Simona with other faction allies from The Union, it’s a good idea to pick Battle Flag of the Union as a skill at level 7. This will give all of your Union allies a buff; a buff that can stack if you have multiple Union units with a similar passive, such as Knight’s Spirit.
If you don’t plan on using Simona exclusively with faction allies instead, or have faction allies who already have similar abilities, it’s worth picking up Flash-Freezing instead. This is a single-target attack that deals 80% damage while also reducing the target’s movement by three for two turns, and if they already have the Movement debuff, they’ll also be hit with the Frozen debuff. This ability is fantastic for preventing enemy movement and maintaining control during tougher battles.
At Rank 9, Ice-made Sword is the obvious choice. Considering all of Simona’s abilities that allow her to apply debuffs to enemies, we can really get the most out of Ice-made Sword when all of those debuffs are successfully applied. The ability will deal 110% damage, but if Simona attacks those affected by her Movement debuff or any target standing on her Frosty tiles, her damage will be increased by 30%. This can make a huge difference and is effortless enough to exploit!
Last but not least, our Rank 11 ability is an effortless decision to make. Will to Survive helps Simona with survival, but if we have a healer on the field, it shouldn’t be a problem. Therefore, it makes sense to pick up and exploit Winter Doomsday, which allows Simona to deal 70% ice damage to multiple targets at once, as well as summon an Ice Wall that locks targets.
Compositions by Simon’s band
Simona will act as DPS for your Sword of Convallaria team, but her kit allows her to support her allies by weakening enemies and creating Frosty tiles. With that in mind, you want to pair her with a healer, a tank, and more DPS units.
The units you ultimately choose will depend on the upcoming battle. On maps with high terrain, you want agile characters, while on maps with different environmental hazards, you’ll want ranged characters, etc. You’ll also want to consider whether your units deal magic or physical damage, and make sure you have a mix of both to counter your enemies.
To really get the most out of Simona, especially if you decide to go with Leader’s Aura – Battle Flag of the Union – Rank 7, you’ll want to bring faction allies with you when you exploit her. For example, Tempest, Lightning, Ballista, and Gloria are all great units to consider.
Ballista and Lightning also have the Knight’s Glory ability if you choose to unlock it for either of them. This ability grants them an ATK boost, and also provides The Union characters with shields; in addition to Simona’s ATK and DEF boosts from her Leader’s Aura.
For tankier characters, I recommend taking someone who can knock targets away, such as Rawiyah or Alexei. Due to the fact that Simona can conjure Frosty tiles, Alexei and Rawiyah’s knockback attacks will knock targets away even further if they slip on ice tiles. Alexei in particular complements Simona’s kit well with a few ice attacks of his own available in later levels.
Rawiyah is the more F2P-friendly option here, as she can be unlocked by completing the first five phases of the Voyage Momento event.
As for your healer, the best one right now is Inanna. However, a F2P-friendly option is Angel, who you’ll be able to unlock and upgrade at the start of Sword of Convallaria.
