How long does it take to find a partner in Concord right now? The problem Sony’s novel first-person shooter has is that it’s an online-only experience, designed for games with up to ten players. That’s all well and good when a title has a huge community, but with Steam numbers in the hundreds and speculation suggesting the release only sold around 25,000 copies, it means matchmaking times are getting longer.
Your experience will of course vary and will depend on your location and the time of day you try to play. That said, we decided to run a match in each of the game’s main playlists and pause the matchmaking times to get some guidance. For clarity, we started our test a little after 2pm on Sunday in the UK, so it was still early morning in New York and Los Angeles. Nevertheless, here are our findings from cross-platform game on:
- Fight
- 1:01
- Invade
- 0:58
- Rivalry
- 8:18
While one minute is a bit much, it’s completely playable and ultimately not much longer than setting up a match in Fortnite, although of course we’re talking about 100-player battles and longer rounds here, so the scale isn’t quite the same. Competitive play is unplayable at this point in our opinion – we even experienced a server outage during one attempt.
