Xbox simply had a great Q2 … and he can thank PlayStation. Or maybe it’s PlayStation, which should thank Xbox?
On the date Made available from the Matheads round analystSix of the ten best -selling PlayStation games in the USA in the second quarter of 2025 (April until June) were published by Microsoft.
Most of these games were recent. Forza Horizon 5 debuted second in the quarter (just behind Elden Ring Nightreign). Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Remastered was right behind him. Doom: The Dark Ages debuted at number 6 and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle came at number 8.
The return of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at number 4 and Minecraft at number 9 joined them.
Sony had only two games in the top ten in the top ten: MLB: The Show 25 on No. 4, I Death Stranding 2: On the Beach debuting at No. 7.
This message appears when Xbox announces its earnings in Q2, in which game revenues increased by 10% year on year, and the revenues from Xbox content and services increased by 13%, driven by the escalate in the first page content and Xbox Game Pass (hardware revenues fell by 22% year in year).
In particular, the 10 best Xbox games in the last quarter look slightly different. Oblivion: Remastered still took space at 2 No. 2, and then older pitches: online on No. 2 and Minecraft on No. 4. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 appeared at number 9.
But Indiana Jones and Doom did not reach position, probably because of both games starting in the game pass (although Oblivion also did). Forza Horizon 5 was also not present, although this is more likely because it was initially released on Xbox in 2021, compared to the fact that it appears on PlayStation for the first time in April.
Regardless of this, it is not a surprise why the revenues from the content of Xbox games increased in this quarter, which shows that his strategy of multi -platform publishing houses can work in everything, if he can keep recent games. To say, it can be more hard to deal with, because the company has recently released hundreds of employees and canceled many projects, including Everwild and Perfect Dark.
