2XKO has been available for less than a day now, and there are already one-hit kill combos

The Alpha Lab 2XKO test has been publicly available for less than a day, and players have already discovered touch-of-death combos. These combos—some niche, others quite useful—offer a glimpse into the juicy potential of Riot’s fighting game.

The reason they were discovered so quickly is down to two main reasons. This Alpha Lab test period, which is set to last about two weeks, isn’t simply an online alpha version of matchmaking. Instead, dedicated practice mode tools are available for players looking to optimize their game, providing stable practice spaces for discovering such combinations. Additionally, many of the pioneers of such combinations have actually played the game before, whether in public play sessions at Evo 2024 and elsewhere, or private Riot events.

So let’s dive into some of these combinations! Edwin – Community Manager at Square Enix and long-time fighting game player – posted his own touch of Darius and Ekko’s deaths on Twitter. It starts with a regular elderly medium hit in the middle of the screen and requires five bars total. So it’s very steep, but not all that impossible to do in a real match. It also uses a double fuse, allowing Edwin to chain supers together and deal a lot of damage.

Recent Mortal Kombat 1 Champion SonicFox I posted a similar combination tardy last night. Using Ahri and Ekko and five bars of super meter, as well as a 2X assist fuse that allows Ahri’s air missile assist to be used multiple times, we get a pure touch combo of death. You love seeing that.

So that’s frigid, of course. But what can you do when you get hit with one? Well, 2XKO has a burst system. It’s basically a “get off me” button, allowing you to get out of a combo at the cost of some of your assist bar. That’s not to say that these combos are useless in any way – getting hit with one basically forces you to burst at the risk of death – just don’t expect these one-hit-kill combos to end the game in the first 10 seconds.
