PS5 Pro offers more powerful components and a recent AI scaling method for better visuals, but games will need updates to take advantage of all the bells and whistles on the pricey recent hardware. So far, Sony has confirmed at least 13 games will have better resolutions, frame rates, or other improvements when PS5 Pro launches on November 7.

Among them is Final Fantasy VII Rebirtha sprawling open-world RPG that looked gorgeous at times but struggled at times on the four-year-old base PS5. Publisher Square Enix has released a handful of recent screenshots taken on the PS5 Pro, showing off improved fidelity, lighting, and other details, though the real test of time will be how smoothly it plays with those flourishes intact.

Here’s the full list of PS5 Pro “enhanced” games confirmed so far:

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
  • Demon Souls
  • Dragon Dogma 2
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Motorfest Crew
  • First offspring
  • The Last of Us Part II Remastered

Games that support features exclusive to PS5 Pro will have a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label on the box or in the PlayStation Store, Sony tells CNET has “around 40 to 50 games” that will receive patches by the time the console launches. While most games will receive improved graphics in 60 fps modes, some, such as Horizon Forbidden West will run at 60 frames per second in 4K resolution, while others such as Big tourism will have modes with 8k resolution and ray-traced effects. System architect Mark Cerny said he expects games to support a variety of options.

But even PS4 and PS5 games that aren’t being updated to PS5 Pro should still see some miniature benefits from its more powerful hardware, including better overall stability and performance. “Other improvements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to over 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games that can be played on PS5 Pro,” said PlayStation co-CEO Hideaki Nishino. he wrote in a blog post“Enhanced image quality for PS4 games is also available to improve resolution in select PS4 games.”

We’ll likely see a larger list of games getting PS5 Pro enhancements at launch, closer to the hardware’s release date. In the meantime, Cerny’s tech presentation showed off a few examples of how games will look better on the recent hardware, at least if Your eyes are good enough to see the difference.
