The last two months have been like a rollercoaster ride for me. Destiny 2 fans, with Critically acclaimed peaks Final shape expansion to the depths reduction of employment in the studio that have been successful, and reports of major changes and abandoned ambitions for the sci-fi MMO. Destiny 2 will continue, perhaps even in a more balanced way, but not in the way fans know or hope.

Last night, A huge bomb co-host Jeff Grubb reported that Bungie is backing down Destiny 2enormous annual expansions to focus on smaller “content packs” that will be released alongside other episodic updates. And today, Bloomberg shed more delicate on these changes, reporting that instead of substantial novel paid campaigns every year, these smaller content releases would be free and modeled on Destiny 2The last Towards the delicate update that added horde mode and tons of novel loot for players to collect.

Bloomberg also reported that a development project called “Payback” was canceled earlier this year. It would be more likely Destiny spin-off rather than a sequel, with third-person action and an emphasis on exploration and team-based boss fights, perhaps in the style of Warframe Or Genshin Influence. But besides the game being shelved, layoffs this week were part of a reorganization that included cuts Destiny 2audio, narrative, and player support teams. Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy, long-time veterans who were often the face of Destiny later this year (and according to Grubb, they were working on the movie “Payback”) were also laid off.

However, for some fans the most disappointing news is that there is no Destiny 3 at the end of this long, dim tunnel. According to Bloombergdoesn’t exist yet and isn’t in development. While that doesn’t rule out the possibility of it happening in the future, it’s clear that the recent reductions mean Bungie is focused on keeping Destiny 2uncertain present and dispatch of novel extraction shooter Marathon in the year 2025, rather than opening an entirely novel chapter in the science fiction universe he has been working on for the past decade.

According to Reporting by Game filea coup for Bungie and Destiny 2 it wasn’t inevitable, but it was expected for a long time, and it was all due to the overly sanguine plans of the studio management during the pandemic years and the falling sales of each novel title Destiny 2 expansion. If there’s one dazzling spot for players in all of this, it sounds like the game’s rollout will be a major focus going forward, helping novel players experience the game’s fun but notoriously elaborate and convoluted looter-shooter.
