Dead By Deadlight Gets Lara Croft Survivor Today, 2v8 Mode and Cross Progression on the Way

Published:

Dead by Daylight’s 8th anniversary stream revealed several major updates to the popular asymmetric horror game, the most immediate being the addition of Lara Croft as the game’s newest crossover survivor, as well as the upcoming addition of the highly anticipated 2v8 mode.

Tomb Raider Chapter

Lara Croft (specifically the 2013 version) joins DBD today, and while she doesn’t have guns or a bow, she does have three novel perks that emphasize her adventuring skills. Here’s an explanation of each on the DBD website:

  • Deadlock: Your quick jumps are faster when you are in good shape and have a cooldown after a successful operate.
  • Hardened: When you open a Chest and purify or bless a Totem, Hardened activates for the duration of the Trial. From that point on, whenever you shout, you will reveal Killer Aura instead.
  • Expert: When you open or search a Chest, you gain 1 Token (up to 3). When you perform a Great Skill Check, you consume a Token to reduce the maximum required Generator progress.

2v8 mode

A novel 2v8 multiplayer mode is coming to the game on July 25, pitting two Killers against eight Survivors in expanded versions of five classic maps. The number of Generators has been doubled, and Survivors must now repair 8 out of 13 to escape. Trapped Survivors are now sent directly to cages, and Survivor perks have been reworked with a novel role system to encourage teamwork.

Cross Progress

Cross-progression will be implemented on July 22. This means that players can now sync their progress across multiple versions of the game they own. Everything can be shared across any platform except Switch, which has a few limitations, as you can see in the chart below.

Today’s stream also revealed a novel trailer and release date for The Casting of Frank Stone, a single-player DBD game developed by Supermassive Games (Until Dawn, The Quarry). You can read all about it here.
